Round One deadline to postmark all nominations to:

                               McGlothlin Awards
                               Blue Ridge Public TV
                               P. O. Box 13246
                               Roanoke, VA 24032
 

11/14/08

Judging of Round One; up to 20 semi-finalists selected, ten each in Elementary (K-5) and in Secondary (6-12) grade level categories.
 

11/21/08

Notification to semi-finalists and to regional media.
 

1/16/09

Round Two postmark for semi-finalists to send to the above address:
  • A 20-minute videotape showing the nominee's classroom instruction, classroom management, and interaction with students, and if possible, use of instructional technology (computers, video, digital cameras, etc.). We will send a style sheet to help with this process.
  •  A standards-based lesson plan for the instruction shown in the video, authored by the candidate.
  • An explanation of how instructional technology might be integrated into the lesson.
  • A written statement releasing the lesson for unrestricted educational use - with attribution - to share with other teachers.

1/23/09

Judging of Round Two submissions; 3 finalists chosen in each category.

 

1/30/09

Notification made to six finalists; three each in elementary school level and middle/high school level. Finalists' names released to media.
 

2/09/09 to 3/20/09

On-site observations of six finalists in their schools by separate three-person committees of McGlothlin judges.
 

April 6, 2009

 Presentation of McGlothlin Awards to an elementary level teacher and a middle/high school teacher at Radford University's Celebration of Teaching.
