CRYSTAL SPRING STEAM PUMP, Roanoke, VA
On this episode of “On the Road Again” we visit a hidden gem in the Roanoke Valley. The Crystal Spring Steam Pump is a historic steam pump engine built in 1905, and supplied Roanoke residents with cool spring water from the Crystal Spring. The pump operated continuously until 1957, and today, it is recognized as a very important part of the city’s history. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
